Eye and Vision Exams

When it comes to eye and vision exams, knowledge is power. If you currently wear eyeglasses, or think might need to start, a comprehensive eye exam performed by our eye doctor will provide you with all the information you need in order to get the right prescription to see effectively once more. Your exam will also cover basic health, such as testing for signs of conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, and even diabetes. Our optometrist will also check other aspects of your vision, such as peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception. We’ll also ask about your lifestyle, just enough to know whether or not to recommend special frames or lenses for your active lifestyle, or extra glare protection from the computer screen or the sun.

Contact Lens Exams

If you want to take the step away from only wearing glasses and add contact lenses to your life, there is a bit more measuring to do with your eye in order to make sure your contact lenses are right for you. Some people have conditions such as astigmatism, dry eye, keratoconus, presbyopia, or GPC that may require specialty or hard to fit contacts, but most people have a more straightforward prescription that will make contacts a welcome part of your life.

Treatment for Eye Health Conditions

If any conditions are found during your eye exam, there are a variety of treatment options that our optometrists may prescribe in order to help slow the progression of the diseases and make your eyes feel better. We offer eye surgery referrals, if needed as well as treatments that include medications, vitamins, and eye drops. Conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy require prompt treatment to slow progression and keep vision as strong as possible.

LASIK Referral with Pre- and Post-operative Care

If you have decided you want to ditch corrective lenses altogether, or at least most of the time, it is time to talk to your optometrist about LASIK. Your regular eye doctor knows your eyes well and can determine if you are a candidate for the procedure and offer a referral to an eye surgeon who can help. In some cases, there may be small issues that need to be cleared up before you can be presented as a strong candidate for the procedure. Although LASIK has a high success rate, it is still important to make sure your eyes remain healthy after the procedure, and you recover properly from the procedure. At Valley Vision, we will follow up closely and make sure you get the most out of your improved vision.

Eyewear and Frame Selection

If you are wearing eyeglasses or sunglasses, fashion is often just as big of an issue as seeing well. Our staff will help make sure you select the perfect pair (or pairs) of frames that you'll feel great wearing, whatever your budget.
